The College organized an interactive public talk on “Requirements, Preparations and aligning of the current Secondary and higher education curricula to the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC). The Discussants were Senior Deputy Director in charge of Curriculum and Research Services- Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development; Mrs. Jackline Onyango and Senior Lecturer, University of Nairobi; Dr. Andrew Riechi and Moderated by Dean, School of Education, Prof.Winston Akala.

The College organized an interactive public talk on “Requirements, Preparations and aligning of the current Secondary and higher education curricula to the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC). The Discussants were Senior Deputy Director in charge of Curriculum and Research Services- Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development; Mrs. Jackline Onyango and Senior Lecturer, University of Nairobi; Dr. Andrew Riechi and Moderated by Dean, School of Education, Prof. Winston Akala.
The Public talk was attended by College Faculty and students who were keen to learn more about the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) currently being implemented by - Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). Mrs. Jackline gave a brief background on the Competency Based curriculum highlighting the processes KICD undertook in the development and implementation of the CBC.
The session was very interactive; faculty and students asked questions that were answered by the speakers and moderator. The question and answer session mainly addressed issues touching on CBC methodologies, job creation opportunities, the basic education curriculum framework and stakeholder engagement in improving and implementing CBC.
The University of Nairobi has been involved in the development of the CBC and has organized various platforms for KICD to present the CBC to faculty and students. In addition the University is also reviewing all the courses and also adding new courses to meet the demand and opportunities presented by the introduction of the new Curriculum.
