Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

Overview

The common regulations of the Postgraduate Diploma in the University of Nairobi shall apply.  The minimum qualification for this course shall be a first degree in (B.A or BSc.) from the University of Nairobi or any other university recognized by the senate of the University of Nairobi.

Mode of Delivery

The program will be offered through: a) face –to – face; b) Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODEeL); c) Blended learning. Students will choose between one of the three options depending on their needs.

  1. Face –to – face

Under this option, the program will be offered purely through class – based onsite sessions.

  1. Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODEeL)

Under this option, the program will be offered off- campus. The learning materials will be accessed through a Learner Management System (LMS) and other e- learning Applications (Apps) downloadable on various electronic devices with limited face – to- face tuition during residential sessions.

  1. Blended Learning

Under this option, the program will be offered by combining (a) and (b) above upon the request of the student.

Minimum entry requirements for Post-Graduate Diploma in Education

The common regulations of the Postgraduate Diploma in the University of Nairobi shall apply.  The minimum qualification for this course shall be a first degree in (B.A or BSc.) from the University of Nairobi or any other university recognized by the senate of the University of Nairobi.

Graduates with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) can work as teachers in schools and colleges in Kenya and elsewhere in the world. They can also be find teaching jobs in tertiary training institutions like the national polytechnics and others.
