College of Education and External Studies is a key player in training of teachers and other human resource who manage and ensure successful performance within the Education Sector. The College has 1 School; the School of Education; which comprises of five administrative units namely:
The College of Education and External Studies has 4 libraries spread across 4 campuses i.e Kikuyu, Kenya Science, Mombasa and Kisumu. The Libraries are stocked with books in the field of education and allied areas.The Library provides services to both undergraduate and post graduate students as well as staff members at the College.

The School of Education was established in 1988 as the Faculty of Education of the University of Nairobi. Since its inception, the School has committed itself to developing and enhancing various academic programs in the area of teacher education: right from pre-school through to primary; secondary; and; university level.
